The
most common aspect ration for panorama images is 3:1 or 2:1.

Flatback Camera (goto

The
film is held flat and parallel to the lens. The exposure is done in
one shot. Most of the cameras require separate lighmeter. Using of tripod
is recomended, some of the lighter cameras can be handheld.

Swing

A
narrow slit rotates in front of the film which is held in a curved position
and exposes it gradually. The fix lens is rotating, great depth of field,
no focus control. Requires camera level to achieve straight horizon
and to avoid distortion. Filter not applicable or complicated in handling.

Introduced in 1996 and as a updated version in 2003 the Xpan
was taken out of production in March 2003. Only available in the
used market.
